This is a Sport 1st Aid course which after successful completion will provide you with a HSE recognised 1st Aid Certificate valid for 3 years, CPR and Automated Defibrillation valid for 12 months and a certificate of evidence of training in sport 1st aid.
This course is primarily aimed at those wishing to either get into sport or those who require a refresher 1st aid certificate in order to continue within sport.

Course Content includes:-
- Aims & Principles of 1st aid
- Airway Management: Anaphylaxis, chest injury and ventilation
- Head injury management: Concussion, head trauma and unconsciousness
- Resuscitation: Cardiopulmonary resuscitation & automated external defibrillation
- Spinal Injury Management: Spinal assessment, cervical immobilisation, spinal boards and strapping
- Fracture & Dislocations
- Blood injuries
- Specific Scenario practice of incidents
The Sports Trauma 1st aid course focuses on specific 1st aid skills and requires a high level of student participation. Successful candidates will receive a 1st aid certificate valid for 3 years and will also receive a certificate of evidence of training in CPR and Automated Defibrillation valid for 12 months. They will also receive an attendance certificate of a 2 day sport 1st aid course.
There are a great variety of 1st aid course in the market place. At SWP we wanted to offer an affordable sport biased course that keeps within the scope of 1st aid. This course does just that and is not intended to be an advanced trauma course.
John has been a 1st aid Instructor since 1983 and has taught widely over the South West including Government Departements and the NHS. Within Bristol he has taught in the North Bristol NHS in Southmead and Frenchay.
John takes a particular interest in Sport 1st aid and is also the Junior Secetary of North Bristol RFC.
He bispokes his sport 1st aid to the problems encountered on amateur pitch-side and with general sporting acitivities he has experienced within the SouthWest to ensure the attendees gain the maximum from the courses offered within this sub-speciality of 1st aid.
